Welcome
The Sixth International Symposium on Stratified Flows is being hosted in 2006 by the School of Environmental Systems Engineering (SESE) at the University of Western Australia.

Fluid flows governed by density differences in a gravitational field are of importance in many fields of fluid mechanics. The Sixth International Symposium on Stratified Flows will extend the series of successful meetings started in Novosibirsk (1972) and followed by Trondheim (1980), Pasadena (1987), Grenoble (1994) and Vancouver (2000). These meetings bring together oceanographers, atmospheric scientists, engineers and mathematicians all with a common interest in the dynamics of stratified flows. Subjects of interest will include hydrodynamic stability, turbulence modelling and mixing, internal waves, gravity and turbidity currents, exchange flows, frontal phenomena, oceanic, limnologic and atmospheric flows, jets and plumes, biological and chemical interactions in stratified flows.
We look forward to seeing you in Perth in December 2006.
